01 The Short Version

Frost Queen is the best Mage in the game — massive AoE ice damage that controls the battlefield. Storm Maiden and Starlight Apostle are strong alternatives. Mages deal area magic damage from a safe distance but are fragile — they always need a Tank in front of them.

Here's the full Mage ranking with positioning tips, elemental advantages, and how to counter enemy magic.

02 What Mages Do

Mages deal area magic damage from a safe distance. They're your best answer to grouped enemies — one well-placed AoE can wipe a cluster of opposing units.

The trade-off: Mages are fragile. Low HP and DEF means they die fast if anything reaches them. Never put a Mage in the front row unless you're okay losing them.

Most Mages have elemental attributes — Fire, Water, Wood, Earth. These interact with the damage system for bonus or reduced damage against certain targets.

03 Top Mages Ranked

- Frost Queen (Mythic, S+): Best Mage. Massive ice AoE dominates Arena and campaign. Needs a frontline.

- Storm Maiden (Mythic): Excellent area control. Solid alternative if you don't have Frost Queen.

- Starlight Apostle (Mythic): Good damage plus support utility. Strong target for summon events.

- Blazewing Lord (Mythic): Aerial mage. Unique positioning options.

- Flame Mage (Epic): Solid DPS with fire element. Excels in Evil Ivy Hunt.

- Apprentice Mage (Rare): Filler until you get Flame Mage. Don't invest Forge Stones.

Most Mage power comes from merge levels. A low-level Mythic Mage often underperforms compared to a high-level Epic.

04 Positioning and Synergies

Mages go in the back row (G1-G7) behind your Tank. Pair with Support heroes for healing. Some Mages have self-peel abilities — prioritize these in aggressive formations.

In Co-Op mode, Mages with AoE handle wave clearing while your partner focuses on single-target DPS. It's a natural division of labor.

05 Elemental Advantages in Mage Duels

The elemental wheel matters in mage battles:

- Water beats Fire

- Wood beats Water

- Fire beats Wood

Check the enemy team's mage composition and counter with the appropriate element. Support Mages like Starlight Apostle can neutralize enemy advantages through buffs and healing.

Elemental advantage won't save a bad matchup, but it can tip a close fight in your favor.
